Shutter Tilt Systems

Whether you are looking to improve privacy in a road facing window, block the sun in a bedroom window, or add a bespoke design to an unusually shaped window, we can design tilt systems which create a finish to match your own personal style, whilst being easy and quick to operate.

What are shutter tilt systems?

Shutter tilt systems are installed within shutters to provide easy movement of the louvres, with many designs available, including traditional tilt rods or hidden gear mechanisms. The rods can be placed in the centre, set to the side, hidden from view, or even built into the louvres, resulting in shutters which are quick to open, close and tilt. The systems are designed to allow the louvres to be moved to an exact position, so that light levels and privacy can be controlled to suit your exact preferences.

What shutter tilts are available?

Our goal is to design the best shutter design for your home, and we will work with you to decide upon the most efficient tilt style.

Easy tilt shutters

This is by far our most popular louvre system, as it allows all louvres to be operated by hand without the need for a tilt rod. Instead, the panels feature a hidden gear system which is built into the panel and links each of the louvres together. Simply adjust a single shutter and the rest of the panel with move in unison, without the visibility of a tilt rod. For modern, contemporary interiors, this is the sleek style you need to create a fuss-free finish with clean lines. If you are installing large bifold or bypass shutters, we always recommend investing in our easy tile shutter system.

Hidden tilt shutters

These impressive shutters feature a hidden tilt rod, with a design that has proved to be very popular in recent years. In comparison to the classic tilt rod style, the louvre control bar is hidden from view behind the shutter panel. If you are installing narrower panels and are looking to achieve a modern finish, the result with our hidden tilt shutters is very similar to our easy tilt shutters, however it is a more cost-effective option. The bar can be seen through the louvres; however, it will disappear from view when the shutters are closed.

Centre tilt rod

Centre tilt shutters are a popular choice with those looking to create a traditional shutter design, such as full height shutters within sash windows or bay windows. The tilt rods add character to the overall design, so if you are looking to maintain or enhance a period feel, the central design is a great choice. If you regularly have guests within your home or are a family with young children, the obvious design of the central tilt rod will save time as everyone will be able to quickly see how to adjust the louvres.

Offset tilt rod

An offset shutter tilt rod can be placed to the left- or right-hand side of a shutter panel, so that it sits in line with the hinge side or opening edge of the frame. The offset rod offers a more contemporary finish than the central tilt design and is particularly popular with café style shutters and bespoke, shaped shutters. If you have difficult to reach shutter panels, the offset tilt rod design allows the louvres to be adjusted from a position which is easy to reach, whilst also adding to the overall traditional design of the room.
